How to Organize Your Family and Business Documents

Papers are simply too many to bear especially if you see a dozen or two and when the entire family's and the business' affairs are in question, you just wish you can have a magic wand to organize the documents and work promptly on what must be done. But, with technology and innovations, we can only be more practical.

I heard there is a system called document management system that keeps all your relevant personal and commercial documents organized and safe. Of course, we can have filing cabinets as one of the physical solutions to keeping our documents intact, but, paperless technology allows us to secure our soft files too.

So, perhaps, if we want to be all sane and secured, we can only try technology at its best.

What Do the Contents of Your Refrigerator Say About You?

Your Refrigerator Says You Are a Somewhat Adventurous Eater

You don't need a lot of stuff to be happy. There isn't a greedy bone in your body.

You are a very thrifty person. You don't like to waste money... or food.

You don't tend to be a very adventurous person, but you do surprise everyone now and then. You have a bit of a wild side.

You try to be responsible, but you don't always succeed. Your heart is in the right place though.

You are likely single - and a workaholic.

Family Wish List for 2011

We are now on our last week before 2010 closes its doors for a new year. Needless to say, we have to again prepare our list of New Year's Resolution to mean that we shall be all good and nice this 2011.

But, we won't be making any list of what must be done, we would rather make a list of what we should want to have and do this 2011 as a family.

  • exercise regularly at least 3x a week;
  • family vacation or two in our hometown and outside the country;
  • try eco - adventure like zipline, caving and climbing again;
  • start the food family business;

Another Baby in the Family

In few days, we shall be welcoming another new member in the family as my younger sister shall give birth. This time, we shall be welcoming a baby girl after three (3) male broods.

We shall soon have a baby shower for my sister and perhaps design lovely baby shower thank you cards for our friends and loved ones who wish my sister and the entire family well.

With the new year, we can only be more happy and grateful because of the new addition. We can only hope that the new baby is all healthy and my sister's delivery shall go fine and safe too.

Family Movie Marathon

We have two weeks of vacation since classes were officially off for the holiday break and we can only rest and have fun while we do more worthwhile stuffs for work, business and family.

But, we have more reasons to be idle and we use the time to do our long - overdue morning jogs, attend to business works, blog updates and more of movie watching.

As I type, we are now on our 3rd movie since we wake up. Geez! I am getting eye strains already. LOL! We still have a few nice rented movies to watch for and we can only schedule them after we get our other stuffs done.

After this last movie, I can help my kid with his exam reviews, then, I can continue with my grades and exam - reviewer making.

Foods that can Reduce Cancer in the Family

When a family member is sick, everyone is simply affected and that also includes ripping financial budget to include medication and treatment. But, when we care for our loved ones, we can only think of ways to make sure that they are healthy and safe at all times.

But, in the recent studies, present illnesses are not anymore brought by bad bloodline but also because of poor lifestyle which includes poor diet and lack of exercise.

So, when our diet includes these cancer - preventing foods, somehow our health risks to cancer particularly, colon, breast, stomach, lung among others can greatly help:

  • garlic - breast, colon, esophageal, and stomach cancers
  • beans - breast and colon cancers
  • berries - colon, esophageal, oral, and skin cancers
  • walnuts - breast and prostate cancers
  • tomatoes - endometrial, lung, prostate, and stomach cancers
  • broccoli - breast, liver, lung, prostate, skin, stomach, and bladder cancers

fact source: shine.

Family Christmas Celebration

We managed to celebrate our Christmas as one complete family except for the fact that my younger sister had to celebrate it with her extended family.

We failed to be awake until Christmas eve but we managed to be up and running on Christmas day and watched together with the kids a Metro Manila Film Fest movie, the RPG Metanoia which earned 3rd place in the MMFF Awards Night.

The grand winners from the MMFF Awards Night had brought home elegant trophies and awards that they can be doubly be proud of.

We quite love the RPG Metanoia that in spite of its animated story, it illustrated Philippine culture and now forgotten game tradition.

We concluded the big day with some pizza treats.

Family Picture Taken (Again)

It was two years ago when we all decided to go to a photo studio for a family picture. With additional years, it can't be avoided that we have grown additional weights and wrinkle lines. But today, we have an added member as we have our youngest member.

We tried the new photo studio at the mall where we hold our boutique and we sported red and green motif, so, in two - three days, we shall have our prints of 2010 family pictures and if we are lucky, we can have a tarpaulin prints again.

I wonder if we can have framed family photo this time.

Siblings' Travel Again

It has been few days since I arrived from Zamboanga City after I traversed 10 cities in just 4 days when I took the bus from General Santos - Davao - Bukidnon - Cagayan - Pagadian and Zamboanga - Cotabato.

I quite had a very draining and dragging days as I traveled alone and with the swarming passengers because of the holiday rush.

But, while I was forced to travel because of my orthodontics treatment, my sister from Manila has arrived too for 2 weeks of long vacation.

At least, in spite of the long and tiring travel, we were all complete to celebrate Christmas and New Year.

Birthday in the Family Plus 1 More

My mother in - law enjoys her natal day today and while she is in Wisconsin with the rest of the family, we could only call her up and greet her with our warm greetings and wishes.

Of course, the rest of the kin greeted her through social networks while the ones who are physically present, bought some good food and ordered flower bouquets to cheer her more.

The nice thing about December birthdays is the fact that most people are jovial because of the holiday season and the fact reunions are normally held in this month.

Come May, we shall soon see our family from Wisconsin and then it will be more joyful and warm.

Sister Gone Home

with mom and younger sibling

Finally, our younger sibling who stays in Manila for work has arrived for a two - week vacation. We are only pretty excited to have her especially this holiday season and that would mean, dining and more mall wandering.

More importantly, my folks are happier to see the entire family again.

Cultivate a Culture of Generosity Among the Kids

We successfully concluded our Dental and Medical mission to indigenous people of Mt. Matutum. And, with the joint forces of the SOCCSKSARGEN BLOGGERS and ROTARY CLUB of POLOMOLOK, we managed to give gift bags to more than 35 families and had their feedings too. We were joined by Rotary Club student members with a fellow blogger's kid.

When my kid and I joined the first visit to the community, we promised to come back in December for holiday giveaways. My kid was not able to join me but he and my nephew collected the books that they wish to share.

Somehow, when kids are taught to help others when they grow up, they try to manifest and enlive the same culture.

I hope next year we can help and give again.

How to Choose the Best Gifts within Your Limited Budget

Holidays are not really complete without the gifts we endow our friends, boss, and loved ones. And, if money is not an issue, we can practically find the best gifts on any store rack we see. But, if budget is a major issue in finding the best gifts, we can somehow remedy this by becoming practical and smart buyer and go for the Best Buy in town.

So, before you haunt malls and stores for your required purchases, make a short list of the persons whom you should buy gifts for. Identify what they probably like or love and make short – list options for the possible gifts.

With this pre – knowledge of your possible gift ideas, search for local stores and customers’ feedback that can be basis for buying quality but cheap goodies.

You can use cash or credit terms in paying your goodies; Irregardless of your payment form, make sure that you don’t go overboard and miss out other gifts needed.

More importantly, find joy in buying for your dear ones.

Family Day for Us After Blog Fest 2010

Last week was a very busy week for us as we worked on blog shirt printing for Blog Fest 2010 and used the shirts for blog cause. We somehow sold a few dozen while others are to be made yet.

And, since the Blog Fest 2010 was a whole day that continued to SOX Bloggers’ Party, we were practically out until late evening that my kid had to sleep over my parents’ bedroom.

We were supposed to join the Sarangani Adventure but I passed the event for a good sleep and time with my kid. So, I used the morning to attend to business but we had the afternoon watching Narnia’s latest episode.

At least, we were all relaxed and had a great time together. Come holiday vacation, we can have longer rest and fun periods.

How to Make Your Reunions Disaster Free

In this time of anticipated holidays, reunions with friends and families simply fill your calendars and if you are too lucky, you simply become the main host or hostess.

So, how can you become the able host for any form of reunions:

1. Make a plan list for all the stuffs to be covered (i.e. guests, theme of party, food, venue, and other trivial stuffs );

2. Delegate some tasks to other family members, so, you can attend to other concerns in your reunion;

3. Depending on your venue, you can simply hire other party to attend to tables/chairs, sound systems, decorations, entertainment, food and party demolition.

4. Knowing your guests will also help you in your planning, so, if some guests are allergic or forbidden to take something, perhaps, you can be sensitive to their needs without alienating others.

5. Be the candid and welcoming host; know your guests and show genuine interest in them.

6. Simply enjoy the big day and all your efforts become more worthwhile.

Fast Ways to Remove Your Stress

Second semester is already up and running and though we had a two - week vacation from school works and pressures, we are quite drained and loaded with all the social duties, family and business pressures.

Just like anyone who simply needs a break, you can simply find ways to relieve your stress. You can try these suggestions:

1. Develop an exercise regimen such as aerobics, jogging, biking, and alike;
2. Enjoy soothing warm / cold soak in one of soaking tubs grand with complimenting aroma;
3. Meet up with friends and / or loved ones or friends for a good coffee break or two;
4. Splurge in body massage and spa;
5. Finish a long - due activity like finishing your novel or following a drama series.

Family Reunions and Counting

Now that December is officially up and running, families and friends have had started their reunions. In fact, my high school batch mates concluded our annual reunion last December 4 to avoid the holiday reunion rush.

We, Filipinos, are simply fond of social gatherings and when December is around the corner, you bet, we can be in most family and other social gatherings for some bonding.

Schools in fact hold annual alumni reunions for their graduates just to reminisce old memories and to give opportunities for alumni to meet once more.

Well, in this jovial season, we can only celebrate with loved ones and friends.

How to Increase Big Savings on Holiday Gifts for Loved Ones

Since mid – November, every day the malls are swarmed with countless of customers on hunt of gifts for their loved ones and the buying number is indeed overwhelming compared to the other months where our store could practically complain of almost zero sales.

With released bonuses among most employees, they become impulsive and generous in terms of buying whatever pleases them. So, to make sure that they get the most from their bonuses, I wish to suggest the following money – saving techniques:

1. List what you should buy and for whom;
2. Set a ceiling amount for your gift buying;
3. Search and compare in your local stores and even in online shops for big – saving products;
4. Find other interesting gifts but of equal or higher value;
5. Lastly, if you can buy earlier than the rest of the buying crowd, you save yourself from beating other customers for big deals;

Be More Radiant Through the Year

The year 2010 is almost done and with a new year coming up, we can only create a new year's resolution.

While we want to be more nice, smart and wealthy this new year, we can't help but also wish more.

So, how can we be more radiant through out the year. I can only cite the following suggestions:

1. Eat more healthy foods including fruits, vegetables and less in carbohydrates.
2. Exercise regularly for better blood circulation, bone growth, and controlled weights.
3. Refrain from health - risk habits including smoking and drinking.
4. Use beauty regimen including home - made activities or from commercial companies to acquire best anti aging product and other beauty stuffs.
5. Use any form of stress - relieving activity.
6. Have healthy relationship with peers and loved ones.
7. Enjoy your job.

Selling Blog Shirts for a Friend

some of the blog shirts we previously made

The SOX Bloggers community covering Region 12 areas shall be holding a blog fest this December 11, 2010 in one of the known hotels in General Santos City. While this event may mean interesting insights how to make the most of blogging and how to really earn while having fun, we wish to run a cause for a fellow SOX blogger who had to go through prostate enlargement surgery but with his limited resources and fledgling business, he is indeed having hard time.

So, in this season of Christmas holidays, I wish to sell blog shirts to start at PHP 250.00 where 100.00 per shirt can be directed to his medical fund. The efforts may produce a small yield but somehow, we can only help a friend.

Come December 11, 2010, we shall be making an early Christmas gift.

How to Make Homemade Body Expoliants

In this persisting hard - up economy, we can only think of practical ways to make comfortable living within our budget.

However, stiff economy should not hinder us from becoming radiant and beautiful. So, I found a nice set of tips to make homemade body scrubs for healthy skin.

Ingredients: Kitchen measuring cups, bowl, stir
1 tsp oatmeal (for dry skin)
1 tsp baking powder (for sensitive skin)
1 tsp baking soda or brown sugar (for normal skin)
1 tsp honey (for sensitive skin)
1 tsp olive (for dry skin)

Simply mix your ingredients until they form a gravy - like consistency. Apply the made expoliants unto your face, neck and chest. Gently scrub in circular motion. Rinse with lukewarm water. You can do this 2x a week but remember not to apply to your eyes.

You will sure experience the same professional - looking effect without ripping your pockets.

Family Beauty Habits

I only have a very simple set of beauty habits and this includes cleaning my face every night before hitting the bed. Further, if I can manage, I use facial cleaner, petroleum jelly on my elbows, moisturizer and lotion on face and body and professional face spa.

However, when we age, we can only hide our age - related blemishes. I once used anti - aging cream but the price made me reconsidered. So, perhaps checking wrinkle cream review for cheap but equally effective anti - wrinkle treatment can do well.

My other sisters are however more vain as they make use of more sophisticated beauty regimen. Well, whatever beauty habit we do, the important thing is we get the right results safe and fast.f

Family Vacation Wish List

This year had allowed me to travel to three different cities and one province. While my pocket were all ripped and my debts all piled up, I only had great time traveling and wandering around.

But, I wish the rest of the family can also join me in future trips. So, the family would want to visit the following next year:

  1. Hongkong or Bangkok
  2. Boracay
  3. Cagayan and Bukidnon
  4. Bohol
  5. Lake Sebu
Perhaps, if we can only save for the trips, then, at least one target travel can be made possible.

When Social Networks Unite Families

With social networks like Twitter, Facebook and Friendster, people of different ages and culture meet and greet online.

And, with the features of social networks that allow news feeds, chat and private messages, everyone is simply hooked to the web and eccentricities of these sensational social fab.

In fact, reunions of long lost friends, loved ones and remote kin are all made possible because of social networks. My partner's families had a very successful and grand reunion of about 1000+ attendees simply through and from Facebook.

So, with most people spend much time online, they and everyone else can use this avenue for personal and social advantage.

Needing Family Exercise Again

I was once determined in doing my early jogging and biking, so determined that I was able to convince the rest of my family to join me in my morning regimen. In fact, my kid and siblings had lost weights because of our regular exercise.

But, my hectic schedule in teaching, business, blogging and other social duties required me to miss my jogs and create endless reasons to watch my diet or do other exercise works. I indeed gain extra unwanted weights. And from my typical weight of 49 - 50 kg, I am now 3 kilograms heavier.

I wish badly to resume with my jogging if only I can wake up early and hit the road before the sun can be extremely hot. So, I struggle with diet but this too is more vain and stressful. I wish to just use natural fat burners to lose the extra weights but I am pretty sure, I have to complement all my weight - loss techniques to make the weight loss more sustainable.

The Birth Order Predictor

You Are Likely an Only Child

At your darkest moments, you feel frustrated.

At work and school, you do best when you're organizing.

When you love someone, you tend to worry about them.

In friendship, you are emotional and sympathetic.

Your ideal careers are: radio announcer, finance, teaching, ministry, and management.

You will leave your mark on the world with organizational leadership, maybe as the author of self-help books.

Family Fun at Manila Ocean Park

At Oceanarium with mom and sibling

At Gerry's Grill for lunch
with sibling on Trick Art Show

After Manila Zoo, we managed to proceed to Manila Ocean Park for the Marine Show, Oceanarium, Water Fountain Dance and Jelly Fish Exhibit.

We had a very draining day but we sure had great time watching the Ocean treasures that we planned to bring the rest of the family next for them to witness the fun themselves.

We however wish to go to Subic for a more exciting ocean adventure.

Hating Family Osteoporosis

I have been having bone problems since I was a kid that I experience muscle and bone aches since time memorial. My orthopedic told my mom that my bones are genetically weak.

Now, that I am older I can see that I am becoming more slouch each day and I see the same case with my mom.

In fact, my orthodontist had to require me to take regularly calcium supplements to make sure that my teeth become more stable and stop from becoming more mobile.

There are different sources for calcium dosage and since I don't like milk, taking the tablets and alike can be highly preferred. I only hope that when I reach 60, I won't be growing any back humps from osteoporosis.

How to Have a Healthy Relationship

I am no expert in relationships; in fact, I have my ups and downs in my relationships with siblings, peers, partners and others.

So, with this restraint, I can only be curious as to how to really have a healthy relationship and what the experts really say about it.

  • Have an open communication. It is never easy to be open to someone who will only cause an eventual rift but experience tells me that misunderstanding may prolong until things are unrepairable already. So, with a compromise, you and your loved one can be on the same ground;
  • Share similar interest but explore new ones. They say that opposite attracts while this may be true, having a partner that is entirely your opposite can be quite distressing and challenging. So, having similar interests can be your neutral and fun zone.
  • Be real. If you don't want to be abused or treated badly or misunderstood, simply be yourself.
  • Discuss openly critical issues like sex, money, vices, vanity and alike. Relationships require compromise, so, if you can't get your or your partner's commitment to make both sides agree, then, expect a persisting rift.

Family Fun at Manila Zoo

with my parents and younger sibling at Manila Zoo

During the course of our Manila vacation for a week, we managed to squeeze in our schedule a trip to Manila Zoo and Ocean Park.

So, I was able to convince my younger sister to be absent from work to join us in our sight seeing. We indeed had great time checking different animals in the zoo that we wish we could have brought the kids with us. They would have enjoyed the looks of some pythons, hippopotamus, elephant and more.

We can only wish that next year, we can indeed make a trip to Manila again and visit the zoo once more.

House Helpers Bitten by the Family Dog

My sister and her ex - fiance owned a pair of chow - chow breed dogs and since they are working in different places, they decided to bring to General Santos City their pair of kernels. While they look beautiful in their lovely mare, the male dog attacked twice my other sister's house helpers. Good thing though that the dogs have updated kernel vaccinations including anti - rabies.

The family at home had gone frenzy with the attack that it made us all anxious. It is at this moment that we wish we can just have emergency medical assistance to make any emergency addressed promptly.

They did some dog bite first aid and simply head to the nearest hospital for prompt medical treatment.

I hope the instance that provoked the dog will be avoided in the future, so, dog biting incident can be avoided.

Family on Home Squat Arrangement

Our family trip to Hongkong was canceled due to unforeseen events at home, so, we ended up using the air tickets staying with my sister at her ex - fiance's place. While it brought some discomfort on her side asking for permission from her fiance's parents, it was even aggravated since the ex - fiance's father had to stay with us for a few days of seminar.

Good thing though that the father was very welcoming and accommodating. The tension was superficial but glad that we had a nice lodging arrangement that stayed with my sister's present apartment.

We can only thank enough the good tidings the ex - fiance's family extended while we were on travel. So, in few hours, we shall be back to our old place and my sister shall drag her things back to her apartment as the father stays until Monday.

Heading Home

We are now done with our a week of vacation and while we are all relieved that the vacation went well, we are somehow anxious since we still have to travel for almost two hours to head home with some stuffs to carry.

At least, the kids are excited to get their toys and while we have to attend to business stuffs as soon as my parents and I are settled.

I am only grateful that the weather is fine, at least, the travel can go smoothly. In few hours, I shall land General Santos Airport and really be home.

Needing a Family Car

Our personal family car needs a registration and when weather and other needs require a four - wheel service, we can only wish that we can have the car registration done and made. But, more importantly, we wish to rework the car functions and parts including brakes for a long, safe and comfortable travel.

But, my sister wishes to have a family car for my parents, so, when the other car needs repair or distant travel, the rest of the folks can just go anywhere else.

My sister just have to work harder; we hope we can help her, so, the buying ca be done faster.

When Technology Unites Family

We have been away for half a week and the family at home can only be agitated and anxious. So, once in a while, we can only exchange texts, calls, chats and do video conferencing every night.

With only my siblings and partner at home to attend to everything, we can only wish that they are ok until we get back this weekend.

I guess the feeling of missing loved ones strongly apply to those who really have to be away for years from their loved ones to earn a living.

At least, with technology, the misery and longingness can be temporarily subsided and addressed. So, thank God for Internet and computer technology, because they do miracles.

Remote Family on Reunion

just few of the clan
photo source: ate tess

Just this November 21, my parents and I visited my younger sibling and stayed for a week. And, while we do our vacation, we can only do mall wandering, window shopping and reunions from left and right.

We wish we can go to my grandparents in Pangasinan but the time and weather are restrained, so, we might as well, reserve the trip next summer.

But, in spite of the short trip, we can only rest and have fun.

Family on Thanksgiving Day

As Christians, we can only be grateful for  our everyday journey in life and for our everyday blessings. In USA, Thanksgiving day is celebrated every fourth (4th) Thursday of November and for this 2010 year, Thanksgiving Day falls on November 25.

History tells us that Thanksgiving Day is celebrated in remembrance of the pilgrims and gratitude.  And, this is indeed a big family affair; we can only wish that our families in Wisconsin can be more joyful on Thanksgiving Day and perhaps they too can enjoy the big deals from  Black Friday    for more holiday gifts and goodies.

This year is even extra - special to them since almost all of the siblings have migrated already. Perhaps, when they are all settled, our migration request can get more attention too.

We will just have to wait and just wish that the folks in USA are always filled with great happiness. Come November 25, we shall place our online greetings to them.

Halloween Voodoo Kids

our voodoo boys for their Halloween school event

Before November started, the school asked the kids to be in their Halloween costumes and we simply dug their old scare costumes and just added few accessories.

And, since we were required to bring some goodies to share, the kids brought a lot of candies from their loot cans.

We were  equally happy though that the kids had fun.

Measles on the Family

I am sick with German measles and this probably the culprit of unusual discomfort last week until I see the rashes on my face last Wednesday.

So, I am out from school and advised to stay home for a week. Needless to say, I have to be isolated from the rest of my family, so, not to contaminate them. However, my youngest nephew got all covered with rashes too.  Good thing though, he has anti - measles vaccination, so, his measles can last only for a short time.

I was prescribed with anti - rashes medicines and paracetamol for pain and fever. I can only hope that my nephew gets better too and that the rest of the kids are free from this itchy condition.

Entertainment Generations for Kids

In our good old days, we settled for black - and - white television, book reading and playtime with fellow kids until our respective parents would call on us.

But, with technology hype, the definition of entertainment has also changed. Now, we spend our time watching cable programs, listening to music gadgets, and surging the net. Using HDMI cables , we can share, upload and download practically anything for free or fee.

With all these changes, physical recreational activities slow down too. No wonder, obesity has become a global health issue.

In succeeding years, we can expect digital evolution in its maximum definition and by then, we can re - define the word "entertainment" again. But, we can only hope that health issues and others are better addressed.

How Many Kids Should You Have?

Having a child is something you'd like to experience, but you're not sure about a crew of kids.
While there are downsides to having an only child, you would be able to devote all your resources to him or her.

You want to be able to balance a family with your other goals, and that would be hard to do with a lot of kids.
One kid is totally manageable for you. It may be a bit stressful to have a child, but it would be totally worth it!

Family on Trip Excitement

My folks and I shall be leaving in two days to visit my sister's place and just wander around. This has been long planned and although the original plan was to head to Hongkong, we can just cancel the out - of - the - country trip but push through with the local travel.

But, we were quite surprised when my parents started to pack already. They are indeed all excited for this travel. As for me, I can start packing tomorrow after I settle all the needed stuffs I have to do and bring.

I hope we can all rest and that the store picks up in sales. For now, we can just enjoy the anticipated vacation.

We Love Christmas

Christmas is best - loved holiday in the Philippines and as early as September, we can already see Christmas decorations at houses and commercial establishments. And with this festive spirit, it is not unusual that people of different ages buy gifts for themselves and their loved ones.

We still have to look for lovely and exciting indoor and outdoor Christmas decorations to boost and when all see Christmas decorations, they have this jovial feeling too.

My kid for one keeps on asking what will be his Christmas gift. He is now searching among the toys what he will pick up for Christmas.

Fun SHot with Kid

My kid and his pop share the same liking for photography. So, whenever we can, we try to get pictures of loved ones and sometimes, the fun and loving moment can only be captured.

Although I put him on restrained playing, he can only be obedient since his grades had declined from losing focus on his studies.

We can only hope that his academic performance improves.

Marriage Not a Requirement to Having a Family

This disturbing title made me stopped what I do and just read through the article I found from Yahoo. It shows that 1 out 3 American kids is a child to unmarried parent, separated or divorced.

While this news may be solely for American families, this is not quite far from the present family structures and statures in the Philippines. Because of economic hard-ups, no - divorce policy among others, Filipinos would rather live together or have single - parenting arrangement rather than pursue marriage.

The liberated society made no - marriage a less vain issue. In fact, there is law that protects unmarried employees and students from being expelled from work or school. However, in spite of modern views on family, there is still a psychological pressures on kids when they see that their definition of family means one parent less or both.

I can only hope that kids, regardless of their family background, shall grow with happy and loving dispositions in life and relationships.

Address Your Family Health Needs

Health is a basic requirement to longer life but with lifestyles and unwanted incidents may actually pose problems. Thus, we can only be proactive and reactive at the same time to ensure that we are protected at all times.

Experts say that we have to do our physical checkups once a year to check for any symptom of health problems. And, when an illness is predicted soon, treatment is most likely successful and cheap.

It is also imperative that we have health insurances, and trusted physicians to attend to us. Personally, I also have to identify a good hospital with good facilities including exam tables to make sure that my health needs and of my loved ones are addressed.

As smart persons, we don't want to risk our own lives or our loved ones' for mediocre reasons; we have to take actions to protect us at all times.

How to Encourage Verbal Skills Among Toddlers

My parents are quite worried that their 2 - year old grand child is not intelligently talking yet. He can only do babbling except for basic words like mama or dada or dodo and the rest remains to be comprehended through his actions.

But, my personal experience with my own tells me that kids learn to really talk intelligently when they reach 3 years, and then, they just don't stop talking.

So, how can we encourage speech development among our youngsters? We can only do these tips suggested by the experts:

1. talk - constantly talk to your kids to widen their vocabularies. Further, they say that adult talks to the kids can actually boost higher IQs.

2. read - read to your kids to teach new words and to encourage interactions.

3. listen - listen to what your kids say; that way, they shall learn to speak more and well.

Filipinos Unite for and through Pacman

November 14 is a red - marked date for the entire Filipinos and other boxing fanatics as 7 - time pound - for - pound boxing king shall rule again as he fights with Mexican Margarito.

My pop and brother in - law are in Gensan Gym as I type to witness the live telecast of the fight while my younger sister and I are at home to watch over the kids.

We can only be prouder as 7,000 viewers in the gym wail and anticipate for Pacman's fight. Further, almost all Filipinos nationwide including politicians, criminals, and commoners watch for this big event.

Only through Pacman that Filipinos stop bickering and fighting and simply are prouder for a world champion in town.

Protect Your Loved Ones from Obesity

Studies show that diabetes among other illnesses is now acquired because of passive and ill life styles. Gone are the days when kids play with their playmates until they sweat and go lean. When technology were not that popular yet, people would rather walk, play, or socialize. No wonder to this date, there is an increasing number of people who are overweight.

Over weight does not only degrade self – esteem but it can also be attributed to other health problems including diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases among others.

Protect then your loved ones by living a healthy life; you can exercise, take healthy diet, and pursue healthy lifestyle. You can also consider another fast weight – loss alternative, seek the best fat burner in town.

We can take proactive actions when our health is at risk; we just have to know our options.

When Home Remedies Address Health Issues

While reading other health articles, I came across this source of good health information that can practically help families minor health issues.

One interesting home commodity is lemon juice that can be a good source of Vitamin C to improve you and your family’s immunity to colds, cough, fever and scurvy.

When pregnant women take lemon juice, they help their babies have strong bones and teeth because of the calcium content of lemonade. Further, lemon juice also has small dosage of magnesium that can actually help you treat tonsillitis, asthma, and heartburn.

Further, the pulp can be used to treat insect bites and stings. With hot water, lemonade can address digestion problems and hiccups. It can serve as a daily tonic to cleanse your kidney and liver.

When economy is hard – up, we can only think of practical ways to help our loved ones and our finances have healthy living.

When Your Kids Hate Dental Procedures

When my kid and I spent a week in our old home town, we managed to have our dental needs addressed. I had my orthodontics and tooth filling rechecked and catered to while I had my kid’s teeth checked by his uncle – dentist.

We brought my kid to his uncle – dentist, to establish trust and calming environment. My kid had his prior dental services like canal filling, cleaning and fluoride application. But, since he is 8 years old, his baby teeth began to fell and permanent teeth started to sprout out. Two of his teeth need extraction and while his uncle – dentist had become calm and patient with him, my kid could only wail in anxiety and discomfort.

While motivation and prior dental visits to pediatric dentists help, a dentist may recommend sedation to help the kids relaxed.

We partially failed to extract the needed teeth, so, we can only hope that next year, when he is older, he can be braver too.

Anticipating Family Trip

In few days, my parents and I shall head to my younger sister's place to have a short six (6) - day vacation and to wander around Manila again.

We were supposed to travel to Hongkong from Manila but since our family business went through a major transition, my mom decided to let go of the trip. Thus, we can only endure the stay in Manila until November 26.

We are still however excited since my parents shall get to see their younger offspring and the rest of my father's kin. My pop wanted to bring some gifts including cigars gifts for his siblings. Perhaps, we can bring my sister's favorite packs of tuna to fill her breakfast.

Until then, we can only do our usual works to enjoy fully the short trip.

Kid on Restraints

My kid simply loves to play with his PSP, and to watch endless cartoon movies. When he is busy with his entertainment gadgets, we can practically do anything related to business, work, and pleasures. But, this only deprives him of enough family time. While I take few minutes to an hour to help him read, or answer his assignments and do his exam reviewers, I still find it short in efforts.

So, now that his second grading report card is in where his grades had partially declined, I decided to cut the number of hours he renders for his play and view time. So, his schedule is limited to weekend playing and viewing with an hour max of play.

I can only hope that the restraint will make him prioritize his schooling more and his bonding with other kids including his cousins.

What Not to Eat When Pregnant

My younger sister and few friends are actually pregnant and since pregnancy is a blessing, it however requires due care and attention to make sure that pregnancy is healthy from conception to birth.

So, one of the things to be avoided are food that cause unwanted illness or discomfort. I gather the list below as the foods that you must avoid.

1. Uncooked meat – raw meat from fish, pork, beef or chicken may actually contain toxoplasmosis, Salmonella and bacteria that can actually cause contaminations. So, require all your meat to be well done or fully cooked;

2. Raw eggs – While eggs are rich in protein, uncooked eggs can contain Salmonella too. And if affected, you may experience discomforts like diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps.

3. Deli Meats – foods like hotdogs, turkey/ chicken or ham sandwiches may also contain another form of bacteria, called Listeria which may cause still births, pregnancy complications or health damages. As remedy, you can reheat your deli food.
4. Fish with High Mercury Level – Carnivorous fish like tuna, shark, and swordfish may contain high level of mercury that can lead to permanent brain damages among others to your kid.

Why You Should Plan Your Retirement

In the recent statistics of people who actually have retirement plans, only 10% are actually prepared. This means that when elders hit their no - work age, they entirely rely on their pensions or worse, depend on others to survive.

Personally, I don't want to be a burden to my family that I wish I can have a solid and sustainable retirement package to cling to. And this will require saving a little for assured future.

Insurances like health or car insurance may be an added cost but the benefits derived are incomparable. With insurances, we are are assured that when the time requires for financial assistance among others, we have other entities to help us through.

We can be proactive with our future, we just have to take immediate actions now.

Rescheduled Family Trip

We were all set for our six - day trip to Hongkong and I could only be excited for my out - of - the country travel but something came up that my parents decided to forego with the long - planned travel.

But, we shall pursue with our Manila trip and this will give my oldies some break from business and family pressures. The trip shall enable me to have a break too from my teaching and business works.

I only hope that my younger sister shall have more time with us and wander around Manila during our short trip. Perhaps, next year, we can pursue our oversea trip for more fun and excitement.

Sibling on Job Hunt

The family is going through changes as our family business shall relocate and this means pulling all resources to meet the new tenant’s policies.

And, with the financial constraints, we can only help one another to at least make through. To help my younger sibling who is still a student, I have to give a portion of my salary to pay off her tuition. My other younger siblings shall pool in too to handle day – to – day expenses. We have to avoid putting a lot of pressures on my mom since her health is quite weak.

We can only support the desire of our youngest sister to hunt for a parttime job for her to earn extra. Not only that the job experience will help her with her personal expenditures but it will also teach her how to appreciate hard – earned pay.

Why You Should Have Your Own Place

While most Filipinos have this distinct culture of close knit kin to the point that extended families stay under one roof, others would prefer to have their own place for privacy and economics.

Two years ago, we have our own home, and we could simply do anything at our own bidding without concern for what others must say. And, with that, our budget was somehow controlled and predictable.

But, since we decided to relocate and stay with my parents, we just have to both enjoy and endure the perks of sharing a roof with the rest of the family.

Thus, we started building our own place with two bedrooms and a communal bathroom just within the family lot to have a little privacy and to manage our finances well. It is not unusual that Filipinos have to help their family when things go bad, so, normally, when financial pressures kick in, we can only oblige to help.

We can only hope that our new house can be finally completed. For one, we shall be needing a lovely bathroom from and a good set of furniture.

I have to share the new house with my sister though but since we might be migrating soon, we can only welcome other housemates.

Cancelled Hongkong Family Trip

We were supposed to leave for HongKong this late November but something came up that everyone in the family is anxious. For one, my mom's furniture business shall be relocated to a new place after decades of stay in her present location.

But, we shall proceed with our Manila trip and somehow the 6 - day trip will give us the break from other stuffs.

We just have to reschedule the out - of - country trip to next and perhaps, my other siblings and own kid can join us.

When Family Heirloom Matters

In the Philippines, we place high regard for family relationships and with that, most family and kin practically do help one another. And sometimes, this includes giving financial aid to less privileged family members. Further, it includes sharing our very home to other extended family members.

It is then typical that we don our loved ones with gifts as sign of our affection for one another. And these gifts that are passed from one generation to another become family heirloom and regardless of monetary values, they are considered priceless. Family heirlooms may include house decors, Cubic Zirconia jewelry and alike, and other personal stuffs.

I personally hold an old pair of emerald earrings that had been with my husband's grandmother. My mother in-law had to give the pair to me and since it is a family heirloom, I can only take care of it with higher regard. And, if one day, I shall have my own daughter or daughter in-law or grandchild, I shall pass this old pair of earring too.

Siblings' Wish List

with siblings and my kid in Puerto Galera 2010 escapade

with my younger sibling and kid at Mall of Asia, Manila

with family in December 2009 on White Haven, Gumasa, Glan

with my other sibling and friend

We have been wanting to visit different places in the country and out of the country to have fun together and since vacation trips are quite expensive, we can only seed resources for the upcoming travel.

I guess any vacation shall be more fun if loved ones are just around. And, my younger siblings and I wish to visit Boracay and go to Malaysia next year.

For now, we can only keep our fingers crossed.

Grand Family Reunion

with cousin in - laws

my kid waiting for his apple freebie from the City Mayor, Celso Lobregat

the rest of the Bucoy clan

Last October 30, the Bucoy clan had chosen to convene in one of the elementary school gyms in Zambonga City. And, since it was only the 2nd clan reunion, they were only expecting around 300 but the gym was all swarmed with every Bucoy clan member.

The entire day was filled with dining, entertainment, and more reminiscence. The day ended early evening and after the event, we simply headed to other SOX bloggers meet.

Wanting Longer Vacation

We just came from a week of vacation and with all the busy stuffs I did for school and store, I can only wish I had a longer vacation to get fully relaxed. We only had two weeks of semestral break since classes for first semester ended and I spent my other vacant time wandering with my kid and siblings, reading my favorite books and vacationing with old friends and kin.

We shall soon be off to leave for HongKong for another short days and I wish after this November vacation, the entire family can be off to other places like Orlando vacations for more fun and excitement.

When we are too drained with a lot of stuffs, it is only vital that we get a time off to get recharged and energized.

Reunion of Cousins

I found this picture of my kid with his cousins Ae and Owen and it was two years ago that they saw one another.

And, with the reunion, my kid only wanted to extend our vacation for another week. He however missed his other cousins who left for Cebu City but had fun time with his other cousins who shared his inclination for PSP games and XBOX.

Well, come next year, we can visit be in Zamboanga City again for a much longer stay.

When Friends Become Family

with childhood buddies (with one missing)
in our latest group picture at Jardin del Pilar, Zamboanga City

It is not unusual that people get friends but they can all be lucky if they get true ones who stick with them through thick and thin.

This is the case with my childhood buddies; we have been friends since grade 3 and the rest is indeed history. We all are married now with different strife, and stories of laughs, cries and good moments. While we have our differences, we somehow respect each other's decision and just stand by whenever we are needed.

So, we end up becoming godmother to each other's kids and remain sister - friends until we age way older.

Helping Friends and Family with Big Occasions

It has been a Filipino family tradition to help whenever we can and this occasion may include births, weddings, sickness, deaths, birthdays, graduation and all. And, this culture is not just among relatives but also among friends. So, help like finances or otherwise is extended expecting nothing in return.

Any occasion becomes extra special because loved ones and friends join us in our celebration or feat. For instance, I shall be joining my college friend in her wedding day while we anticipate my sibling giving birth. Then, we can all prepare nice Baptism invitations to invite the rest of our kin and friends.

As early as now, we can only be more excited to join our beloved in their big days.

Reunion with Old Friends and Family

Now that we are back to our old city, we can only find time to meet with friends and relatives. Two days ago, my elementary friends and I had a dinner date and just enjoy the time. We could not help but teased one another while savoring our meals. Indeed, we rocked the entire house with all our noise.

Tomorrow shall be another day to have fun and our schedule is for us to meet extended families. My kid is simply excited to meet and play with his cousins. And, in the evening, I shall see my old school friends and have dinner again and simply pain the town red. Cool!

We shall go home on Monday, and we can only maximize our stay.

How to Enjoy Your Vacation

We are on our one – week vacation in our old city and with this short vacation, we can only maximize our stay and make sure that we have all fun within in our limited budget.

But, how can you really make your vacation fun and safe? Here are my basic tips:

  • List all the things needed for the vacation. Making a list of what must be brought shall make the trip less troublesome;
  • Prepare a plan of what and where to go and do. If the place has some hot spots and special activities, make sure that you visit a few or all of them depending on your budget;
  • Secure your travel papers. It is always wiser to have a photocopy of your papers like passport, visa or IDs just in case you lose the original ones;
  • Experience the culture. Make your trip extra special by experiencing the traditions or culture of the locals. Experience eating their food specialties or ride their special transportation.

Boost Kid's Health

The World Health Organization can definitely account kids who have nutrition and health problems. While these can be duly remedied, local government units and families must find resources and means to make sure that kids do receive the right nutrients, care and attention to make sure that they grow holistically right.

Government agencies like Department of Health (DOH) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) along with private institutions do provide health education and interventions including hgh supplement and feeding programs, so, kids and the needy ones can grow healthy and well.

With technology, science and institutions, almost all health issues can be remedied, we just have to act immediately.

Things You Must Do and Avoid When Pregnant

I am surrounded by pregnant people, my sister and employee are both on their trimester, and almost everyone I see are pregnant.

So, I find it only needed to include things that a pregnant must do and avoid. Here is my short list:

  • See your doctor. Your doctor is the best person to evaluate your physical condition while pregnant. He can recommend ways and means to make sure that you have a healthy and comfortable pregnancy.
  • Watch your diet. There are foods like rich in iron, calcium and other needed vitamins and minerals. Avoid raw food like half - cooked egg, fish and meat as they may contain bacteria that can harm your unborn baby.
  • Exercise appropriately. Keeping a normal weight when pregnant helps you during labor and make sure that you won't be acquiring any weight - related health issues like hypertension or heart risks.
  • Stop drinking, smoking or taking illegal drugs. Alcohol, nicotine and other unfriendly - pregnancy chemicals are simply too dangerous for you and unborn baby.
  • Free yourself from unfriendly - pregnancy working environment and stress. If you are constantly exposed to pregnancy risks and too much stress can somehow affect you mentally and physically too.
  • Wear comfy outfit and shoes. Too tight, warm and too high - heel shoes are simply too much to bear for pregnant individuals.

When Elders Need You

I have been hearing sayings that people who are below 6 and above 60 years old need the most attention. While some cultures have different ways how to attend to their elders and youngsters, in the Philippines, we simply rely on family members or nannies to help with the kids while parents go to work, and elders are taken care of by offsprings or other extended family members.

While there are homes for the elders, most of the Filipino families simply take care of their elders until they are gone. This kind of care can be attributed to the knit kin culture of most Filipinos. While this culture may have its perks and downsides, I guess being Filipino means putting family as one of the top priorities.

Putting the elders to facility for the aged may mean giving them appropriate medical attention and relieving the family of some works. Regardless of the family's choice whether to keep their elders at home or place them in a facility, there is no question how they must love and care for their folks.

I only wish though my parents when they grow old, they shall still feel the love and care we give them but I just don't how I can personally attend to their needs when they become child - like again. Perhaps, by then, we can just hire other individuals to help them through.

Teach Your Kids about Independence

Your kids will try to live out your teachings to them when they are exposed to specific education like good hygiene and healthy living. Thus, it is quite imperative that we teach them these values as early as one year old. While it is important that we speak about the essentials, it is equally important that we too model what we preach.

So, let us be open, vocal and consistent about teaching and modeling right and correct values. Further, we have to equip them with the right knowledge, so, they can fend for themselves when they grow old and independent from us.

When they have to face problems like pregnancy, unemployment, personality issues, hygiene rudiments including acne body wash among others, they can be decisive and self reliant.

Kids can only grow according to how they were shaped by their folks. So, as parents, we can only be responsible.

When Family Cultures Collide

As I type, I am watching this movie, Our Family Wedding, this is a movie about two different families, one of black heritage while the other of Spanish. The whole picture then is a story of how romantic love can be in somersault because of family ties and cultures.

While marriage or unions can be possible between couples of different races, they however face a more difficult time adjusting and re-adjusting with traditions and cultures. Needless to say, marriage of same race does not at all guarantee error - free, but different race or culture poses a more challenging relationship between the couples and among the family members.

But, just like any movie, love conquers all. So, the union is really worth fighting for, same culture or not, love is all matters.

You can see the movie's official trailer below.

The Five Factor Emotional Intelligence Test

You can express your emotions, but it's not always easy for you. It takes you a while to open up.

You balance heart and head when conducting your life. Facts matter, but feelings matter too.

You are very emotionally responsive. It's not difficult to tug on your heartstrings.

You are an extremely empathetic person. You find it easy to put yourself in someone else's shoes.

Surrounded by Pregnant and Oldies

It has been a month since I have this awkward feeling and what makes it more worse is the fact that the discomfort is coming from the sight of too many pregnant women wandering before my eyesight.

Don't get me wrong, I love pregnancy and motherhood. I am a mother myself but the fact that I am old but only with one kid creates a little pressure. Worse, my younger sibling suggests getting a facial treatment as I manifest wrinkle lines on my face particularly on my forehead and around my eyes. Sigh!

Since I could not contain aging, I can only contain the symptoms of aging. Now, I have to use moisturizers, wrinkle eye cream and anti - aging body cream and pills.

Looking good means feeling good and as long as I can hide my real age through looking good, then, I am all OK about seeing pregnant and old folks.

How to Plan for a Family Trip

We shall soon leave for a week of vacation in our old town and while I travel more than several times with my kid, somehow, the overnight cruise trip can make me all anxious.

But, how can we actually have a comfortable trip and just have good memories of the vacation with friends or loved ones? Here are my practical tips:

  1. Plan your trip way ahead. This way, you can arrange work/school schedules, nanny or security services to name a few.
  2. Know prevailing cultures, rules, traditions in your target place to better enjoy your stay.
  3. Prepare all your travel papers e.g. visa, passport, ID's. Photocopy them just in case you lost them in your trip.
  4. Pack light. This way you want have to worry with extra - luggage freight, transportation and ease in carrying all your luggage. If allowed, you can buy toiletries and other essentials once you get to your destination.
  5. Enjoy. Enjoy. Enjoy. Well, no needed words for this.

Spanish Day for the Kids

The kids at home concluded their first semester with a celebration of United Nations' Day and their recognition program.

So, I missed dropping Entrecard for my blogs and updating my posts, so, I could join the kids in their early morning program and could leave early to meet my students. I was only glad that I had seen all their dances and presentation before I had to leave. It was even more relieving since my younger sibling and pop were around to wait for the kids and bring them home.

I was only prouder that the kids had indeed grown up and could just put on a good show for everyone else and Mommy is just proud!

School Break, Family Bonds

We are officially done with our classes next week, however, the young kids at home shall still run their classes until late October.

Now, that the classes are soon to be halted, we can only enjoy the solitude from school. The exams are done, so, we can just relax and enjoy fun time with friends and loved ones. This can be high time to do recreational activities including watching movies, playing games, swimming and more!

Also, with less restraints on my time, I managed to resume with my morning jogs. Losing weight among older people is quite difficult, thus, I have been adamant about keeping my medium of burning my extra weights.

Good thing that there are other fast and effective fat burners that can make weight loss much easier.

The family can only have more bonding time as we dine and have fun together.

Revived Kasambahay Bill on House Helpers

It is not surprising at all that national news highlight cases of domestic violence over house helpers and the last case was a young maid from the south who decided to take suicide because of severe and traumatic maltreatment from her employers. She was all burned from hot water, cigarettes, sexually abused and salary deprived.

This reality case is just one of the many unspoken stories of Filipino house helpers or maids who get physically, emotionally and sexually abused from their monster employers.

House helpers in the Philippines are typical members of most Filipino families. Normally, their salary range is only between 1000 – 4000 per month. Worse, they get to clean the house, do laundry and cooking, and attend to the kids. And, these are no easy jobs.

So, the new house bill known as KASAMBAHAY BILL was recently revived Diwa party - list Rep. Em Aglipay, the House Bill 1815 on improving and protecting the welfare of house helpers including babysitters, drivers, cook and laundrymen are only commendable, although, I may say these can further increase the compensation cost on maids but these are simply appropriate for the heavy workloads of house helpers.

Our Anxiety over Hong Kong Family Trip

October is soon to be over and while we are excited with our out – of – the – country trip, we can’t help but be anxious as we embark on our new trip. Worse, my parents’ travel schedule is way earlier than mine and my sister wanted them to check in their hotel while waiting for my arrival. Tsk tsk tsk!

So, to appease my anxiety, I did search for Hong Kong Travel Guide, so, we can fully maximize our stay. We can only wish that the travel and trip shall be all safe and fun.

For now, I can only search more about this shopping center in Asia.

Wanted: New House for My Sibling

My younger sibling recently got hooked up and now, she is staying with her partner's home along with the husband's siblings. And, while having an extended family provides cool perks, it can be equally inconvenient.

So, she wanted to resume with our house construction just within our family lot, so, she won't have to adjust with her partner's relatives only this time, the burden will be on her partner's care.

We can only wish that we will eventually continue with the new house and with my sibling trying get the house done, I wish it can be built as elegant and sturdy just like commercial steel buildings for posterity and endurance.

My parents are equally excited to have them within our premises, but, we can only wait if my sibling will have her wish answered.

Are Your Kid's Grades Determinant of Your Kid's IQ?

Enforcing the value of education among kids is simply challenging but the kids' performance at home is not just the responsibility of school because the kids and parents have equal responsibility.

So, exams are given to assess the learning acquired by our kids and while grades are given to equate this performance, this is not a basis of our kids' IQ although this can be an indicator for learning disorders or problems. Thus, as parents, we have to be vigilant and cooperative with schools and to at least check if professional intervention is indeed needed for our kids.

My son is oftentimes construed as mentally challenged because he does not perform well in school. In fact, he is one of the lowest performers. But, when evaluated individually by teachers and his guidance counsellors, he ranks equal to their second honor student.

He is not autistic or something, his passion for learning is not just equal to that of his other classmates and partly, having working mom and pop without a professional tutor does not help much. So, with this problem recognition, I wish to cultivate a value for education and gladly, he is picking up.

With right guidance and personal motivation, your kids' grades can improve but IQ is totally not equal to his grades.

Family and School Ordeal: 2 More Years for Philippine Basic Education

It has been days since the announcement that kindergarten along with elementary and secondary education shall be augmented with two (2) more years to achieve quality graduates. And, this DEPED's pronouncement has solicited equal acceptance and rejection from all sectors.

As a college teacher, I assessed most of my college students to be downsided in most areas including but not limited to communication skills, comprehension, problem solving and analytical skills and while these can be enforced, teaching them a subject content is simply harder to do.

In IT alone, most elementary and high schools can only offer this subject to the prime class and worse, some could be high school graduates but no formal computer education. And, when they pursue computer courses, their education and training can't be fully covered. Thus, they end up half prepared.

I am pro - extension when it comes to adding years to basic education, but, quality is not just achieved by the numbers but by other contributing and significant factors too including quality teachers, better facilities, improved curriculum and instruction. So, if quality graduates are indeed the issue, DEPED and the government can at least cover all facets of education otherwise all these efforts will produce less significant effect.

Perks and Frills of Family Business

My family has long been with the furniture business for almost two decades now and thanks to my mom, my siblings and I inherited her passion. So, we created our boutique to serve our own inclination for shopping and fashion.

But, having a business is no easy feat; managers and owners must enforce strategic planning at its best to thrive and succeed in the playing field.

There are indeed several contributing reasons to business success and these include marketing and customer communication. And, with internet hype, it is not unusual that most companies of different sizes make use of websites with features like managed web hosting to promote their services or products.

Family business allows fast decisions and unquestionable support although conflicts may still arise from individual differences but with blood that bonds the managers and owners, running the family business becomes easier.

My SOX Family with guests, Dan Delima - Google's Software Engineer and wife Rhea
at one of the city's resto.

It is a blessing, gift and luck that one can get friends who can stick with you over time and in spite of differences in stature, one can only enjoy and savor friendship above all.

So, I can only be happier that whenever we can, my SOCCSKSARGEN BLOGGERS community and I bond for a reason or two.

We however, missed the last birthday bash of one good and sweet blogger. But, come Mindanao Summit in Zamboanga City, we shall be having fun again as one family.

Kids on School Exams Again

My son and nephew along with my younger sibling are scheduled to have their second semester and final exam next week. And, while I am not at all concerned, I have to prepare my own test questionnaires for the young kids as their own reviewers.

And, since I am quite busy, I can only find time to squeeze my schedule and make their test reviewers. I am only relieved that our school exams shall be next week, so, that leaves me checking only my school papers and encoding my grades as I wait for final exams to go through.

I only wish that I can finish all the reviewers and have the kids ready for their exams on Monday.

Enforce Family Quality Time Through Recreations

Amidst our busy and hectic schedule, it is very relevant that we find ways to eliminate and address our stress. And, experts suggest that recreational activities like exercise, movie and theater watching, or gardening can only assure that we have healthy and happy living.

But, what can be more exciting and happier than enjoying our recreational activities with our loved ones and / or friends. Not only that we get to have a company or two to laugh and dine or play with, but also we get to reenforce stronger relationships with them. Thus, if you are in search for good recreational activities and may be needing theater tickets for fun movies or plays, you can find a way to set that special bonding time.

I can't personally wait my next recreational activity with my family; perhaps, I can start booking an arrangement and just surprise them!

What To Do and Not Do When Pregnant

I am surrounded with pregnant people: my sister, my store attendant and close family friend. And, surprising though, whenever I wander around malls or somewhere else, I keep seeing bulging women. So, I think it is only fitting to write about pregnancy for expectant mothers and family.

But, what can expectant mothers avoid when pregnant. Here is my short list:

  • No drinking, smoking or illegal drugs;
  • No raw meat as it may contain bacteria, toxoplasmosis, and salmonella that can affect your unborn baby;
  • No raw eggs which have similar adverse effects from meat;
  • No eating of big fish like shark, tuna and other carnivore fish that may contain high mercury level;
  • Stay clear from stress – inducing tasks or activities like difficult jobs or fights and alike;
  • Exercise fit for you as pregnant;
  • Wear comfy clothes and footwear;
  • Take enough vitamins and minerals which can boost healthy baby development and safe pregnancy;

Filipinos as Among the Happiest but Most Depressed

It is no unusual news that we, Filipinos, are one of the happiest because in spite of problems, we seem to take on hope and manage to smile and fool or kid around.

But, I came across this unfortunate news in a national news that Filipinos are the most depressed individuals in Asia which can be attributed to hard economy, family separation through deaths or otherwise, unemployment, financial constraints among others.

We may feign our depression through our happy smiles but that alone cannot really eliminate problems that are masked by lip muscle twist. This is a sad thought but a hard fact.

Teach Your Siblings, Kids or Friends How to Get a Job

The school semester is soon to be over and what can be more pressing than getting a job after graduation. But, with the continuing economy crisis where hundreds of companies if not thousands go bankrupt where employees are retrenched or simply cut from the live stream.

So, with limited vacancies, finding a job is just finding a needle in a haystack. But, what can you exactly do to make sure that you won’t be counted as one of the unemployed individuals. Basically, make sure that you have different skills and knowledge acquired from school and from the field. These will give you the headstart.

With these skills and knowledge as your basic weapon, next to do is to find your playing field. You can try in your locality through job fairs, walk – in application, or print advertisements. You can ask referrals too from your school or from acquaintances . Normally, while waiting in a company to attended to, a fellow applicant may be generous enough to provide information of other venues for application.

Lastly, don’t ever fail to search online. There are companies that websites and applications can be directed through emails. More importantly, you can search for employment portals where employers can search for potential candidates.

It is quite imperative that with the right character, skills and intelligence, you can still land a job in spite of the looming economy.

Cultivate a Passion for Family Hygiene

Never beats cleanliness as a medium of prevention against any illness including skin problems like pimples or acne, digestive and immunity diseases among others. Good thing though that there are medications to treat health problems including acne scars from to handle the aftermath of skin problems to name a few.

Thus, as elders, it is important that we teach our kids how to wash their hands with soap before and after dining, playing or exercising among others. But, in teaching, we have to demonstrate ourselves what we teach to enforce better learning. We have to be consistent with our hygiene habits.

Habits like taking a bath after and bed can be enforced and cleaning frequently held gadgets like computers or cellphones can further eliminate causes for health concerns.

The bottom line is that we can have healthy and clean living if we are well - informed and kids shall value these hygiene habits until they grow old.

Family All Sick

With the extreme weather of hot and cool, most of us are sick with colds and flu. And with my busy schedule in school, business and other associated tasks, I am simply stricken of flu.

I wish to sleep early and rest but I still have to work on other stuffs. Sigh! Being sick is the only way I can slow. tsk ! tsk ! tsk!

Although it is a weekend tomorrow, I still have to be in school and attend to my students' defenses and just head to business store to man it.

After this blog post, I can go straight to bed and rest well.

The Birth Order Predictor

I am the eldest, so, I find this quite true! LOL!

At your darkest moments, you feel guilty.
At work and school, you do best when you're researching.
When you love someone, you tend to agree with them often.

In friendship, you are considerate and compromising.
Your ideal careers are: business, research, counseling, promotion, and speaking.
You will leave your mark on the world with discoveries, new information, and teaching people to dream.
